Make it happen where you work
In recognition of the well documented health advantages
of breast feeding for infants and mothers, The Community
Heart Health Coalition of Ulster County’s 2009 goal
is to help five employers uphold the 2007 Nursing
Mother’s in the Workplace Act* that calls
for employers to provide a supportive environment that enables
breastfeeding employers to express their milk during working
hours.
Learn more about it-
We are hosting an informational breakfast January 14th at
8:30 AM (snow date Jan 21st.) at the Kingston Hospital 4th
floor multipurpose room to pass the word to employers.
Who should attend?
Human resources people, employee health nurses, business
owners, facilities managers.

Mothers in the Workplace Act
Authorizes the right of nursing mothers to express breast
milk; an employer shall provide reasonable unpaid break
time or permit an employee to use paid break time or meal
time each day to allow an employee to express breast milk
for her nursing child up to three years following child
birth. The employer shall make reasonable efforts to provide
a room or other location, in close proximity to the work
area, where an employee can express milk in privacy. No
employer shall discriminate in any way against an employee
who chooses to express breast milk in the workplace.
